Bygone restores old photographs using AI. This policy explains what data the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: your photos are processed transiently to produce a restoration, we keep no copies on our servers, and there are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking.
When you restore a photo, the app uploads it to our processing server solely to perform the restoration. The image is forwarded to an AI model provider, the restored result is returned to the app, and the app downloads it immediately. Our processing servers do not persist your images. Temporary processing copies held by the model provider are deleted within 24 hours. Restored photos are stored only on your device, in the app's local library, under your control.
The app generates an anonymous random identifier and stores it in your device's Keychain. It is sent with requests so our server can enforce the free-restore limit, fair-use limits, and your credit balance. Our server stores only a one-way hash of this identifier, together with usage counters and credit balance. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account, and it is not used for tracking. You can delete this record at any time with Delete My Data in the app's settings, which also rotates the identifier so past usage cannot be linked to future usage.
Bygone has no accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or location.
All purchases — subscriptions and credit packs — are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
The app contains no tracking SDKs and no advertising SDKs. We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with third parties except the AI model provider, and only to the extent needed to process the photo you asked us to restore.
Restored photos: on your device only, until you delete them or the app. Server device record (hashed identifier, usage counters, credit balance): until you use Delete My Data. Images on processing infrastructure: not persisted by our servers; provider-side processing copies are deleted within 24 hours.
Bygone is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with the app and be posted at the same location, with a new "last updated" date.
