These terms govern your use of the Bygone app. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Bygone uses AI models to restore and optionally colorize photographs you provide. Processing happens on remote servers; results are delivered back to the app and stored on your device.
Bygone offers auto-renewable subscriptions (weekly and annual) that unlock unlimited single-photo restorations. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
"Unlimited" restorations are subject to a fair-use cap intended to prevent automated or abusive use. Usage far beyond what a person restoring their own family photos would generate may be rate limited.
Batch restoration uses consumable credits, sold in packs. One credit restores one photo; this applies to subscribers too. Credits do not expire. Credits are tied to your device's anonymous identifier, have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are non-refundable except as required by law. A credit is only spent when a photo is successfully restored. Using Delete My Data erases your credit balance permanently.
Only upload photos you own or have the right to use. Do not use the app to process unlawful content, to infringe anyone's rights (including privacy and publicity rights of people depicted), or to harass or deceive. Do not attempt to probe, overload, or circumvent the limits of the service. We may refuse service or limit usage that violates these terms.
Restorations are AI reconstructions. The models infer detail and color that may never have existed: faces, textures, and colors in the output may differ from historical reality. Results are provided for personal, sentimental, and creative use and should not be treated as an accurate historical record. You are responsible for how you use and share the output.
You keep all rights to your photos and to the restorations of them. You grant us a limited license to transmit and process your photos solely to provide the restoration you requested. We do not use your photos for anything else, and our servers do not keep copies.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or photographs, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you. Keep your original photographs; the app never modifies them, but you are responsible for your own backups.
We may modify or discontinue features, models, pricing, or these terms. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of these terms shipped with the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
